Project 365

Last year I undertook project 365, this was my first attempt and I must admit I found it pretty hard going. Some days I just didn't know what to photograph, some days I forgot and in the end I felt very negatively about the whole project, mainly because I was so behind.
I manage to keep the journaling up until July 29th.
I did however manage to keep up with the photos and have a photo for every day. Not that all those photos were taken on those specific days, I just felt that when I looked at the album in years to come that what mattered most was that it was a slice of life. Whether it be a slice of that specific day or a slice of that week/month - that in the end it really didn't matter. I do intend to finish the journaling, it is quite easy as the photos are there and luckily my memory is quite good.
In November I was pleased that project 365 was coming to an end. I was also positive that I did not want to undertake it again next year. Then I received an email alerting me to Becky Higgins new Project Life. I really liked what she had done with it and was so pleased that she was flying solo, (without Creating Keepsakes, who made such a diabolical mess up on releasing Project 365 back in January 2009).

I then went and had a look at my Project 365, I looked at all the photos and at the journaling and had a niggling feeling that I may regret not doing it again. That I might look back and think what was I thinking not wanting to do it. It is such an amazing concept and if kept on top off, a relatively easy way to capture your memories of that year. So I bit the bullet and ordered my Project Life. I made a promise with myself that I will do things slightly differently this year and will keep on top of it. That basically means getting all the photos developed and doing the journaling cards if not daily then at least weekly.

I really like the design of the Project Life.

I love the colours.
This year I have kept the journaling cards out, last year I put them in the album. I also pre-day and date stamped them, (something I did not do last year). They are now sitting on my desk in a pile and it is super easy to just pick one up and jot a few lines down.
These are my first pages.
I try to keep it really simple, I don't try to jazz up the pages or re-arrange the layout.
I really hope that I keep up the good work. I do think this is an amazing project and I think I will cherish these albums in years to come.

I will keep you posted on my progress. Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. So glad you mentioned this today! I was really bummed last year when I was unable to get a Project 365 kit--that whole thing thru CK really was a mess, wasn't it? Looks like Project Life may be available thru Amazon.com next week. :) YAY!

  2. Wow, never even heard of this, I'm pretty new to all this designer end of scrapping though. Sounds like a HUGE but noble undertaking. My Holi-daily was tough for me to keep up with so I don't think I could do it...this year.

  3. I'll have to look into this... I heard about it but it was too late to get started last year. This seems like such an amazing idea. It really creates something extremely special to go back and look through... Thanks for sharing!

  4. I saw Project Life somewhere and had a look at Beckys homepage. I did love the concept, but as I have no life (Besides scrapping old photos and my dog), I decided to wait to do this project until next year (when hopfully I´m back out of my parents home, starting over again!).

I was thinking about getting the kit, and start it the day I buy my new home, as a way to record the process of buyin, redecorating, moving, setting up a new life. Actually, when I read this, I think it sounds like a realy good idea, and I have convinced myself that I will do that... :-)

    Tara, you are the queen!

  5. What a fabulous idea, Tara! I'm so impatient though and you can't order the Project Life again until next week. With my new granddaughter soon to arrive, I thought this would be PERFECT for me to do with her. Maybe I'll actually take the pictures and start it once I can get the book if she comes before it can.
THANKS for telling us about it and GL to you as you go through this year in keeping up. It's VERY nice. :-)

  6. What a great idea! It intimidates me, though, as I can barely keep up with the household paper work (usually because I am scrapbooking!). Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing some more of your work :)

  9. This is a great idea. I clicked on the project life link and she is coming out with a digital version. I think I'd like to do that. BTW, I enjoy reading your blog.

  10. I am doing Project Life also! I am also up to date with my journaling. Every few days, I go through my pictures, move them to a special folder on my desktop, and then do my journaling. I then put my journaling right in and then have my pictures printed when I can. I am loving it so far. I hope I can keep this up, since I am having a terrible time keeping the children's caught up!
