Halfway

I can't believe that I am at the halfway point of my pregnancy. Today was the day I could find out the sex of baby bump Oompa Loompa. I was so tempted but in the end I chickened out. I have never found out before but this time I thought that perhaps I should, I thought it would be nice to see what it feels like to be in the know.

BUT, I was worried, worried that I would be disappointed. Not disappointed with the sex but disappointed that I had found out. I thought it might be like finding your Christmas presents before Christmas, super excited that you know what you're getting but also slightly taking away the magic and surprise on Christmas Day.

So I opted to wait, there is something rather nice about not knowing. Using every old wives tale in the book to try to guess. When I was pregnant with eldest Oompa Loompa I had this wonderful old Irish Midwife that I used to see for my check-ups. She would listen to the heart beat and told me that I was definitely having a boy. Apparently a boy's heartbeat sounds like a train although I can't remember what a girl's one is suppose to sound like. Anyway, she was right, I did have a boy. You can't beat old Irish Midwives!!!

When I was pregnant with my 3rd OL, I saw 4 Magpies in the garden a few days before I had her. It is so rare to see 4 Magpies together I thought it must be a sign - 1 for Sorrow, 2 for Joy, 3 for a girl and 4 for a boy. Needles to say the Magpie myth proved to be wrong.

So far I have had no signs, no old Irish Midwives or Magpies but I will let you know if I do!!!
